It was a pleasure to meet His Excellency Mr. Imtiaz Feroz Gondal, the newly appointed Consul General of Pakistan in Manchester.

We had productive discussions on numerous issues affecting residents across St. Peter’s ward in Tameside and beyond, particularly the ongoing difficulties in securing appointments for NADRA ID cards and Pakistani passport services.

It was great to hear that His Excellency has already taken steps to address these concerns by increasing the number of daily passport appointments from 28 to 60. In addition, elderly residents over the age of 60 will now be able to access Consular services without an appointment, through a walk-in system. This is a fantastic move that will help ease the current backlog and improve access to these vital services.

We also discussed various community focused projects, and I’m excited to collaborate with His Excellency on these initiatives. I look forward to welcoming him to Tameside in the near future and wish him every success in his new role.
